Registration begins at 8:00 AM in the clubhouse.

There are usually three stages set up with different target layouts on each stage. Targets are set up on range 1 at the 100-yard backstop on the rifle range and on range 3 with each stage having between 6 and 12 targets at distances up to about 15 yards. Targets are generally 10 or 12 inches in diameter or a 12x18 rectangle. There are a number of white targets and one red "Stop" target at each stage. The white targets can be shot in any order, but you must hit all the white ones before you shoot the red target.

The course of fire can be shot up to 5 times ("strings"). The next person shoots and when everyone on the squad has finished the squad rotates to another stage.

It's an informal shoot. Scores aren't posted anywhere. We do have a timer if you want to compare times with your buddy or try to beat you own time on the next string.

Handguns can be .22LR rimfire or centerfire from .380 to .45 (no magnums) or PCCs (Pistol Caliber Carbines) in the same range.

You'll need several magazines. Or speed loaders if you're using a revolver. (People have done that.) Ammunition-wise, you should bring 100-150 rounds. Having extra is better than running out before you finish! It helps us if you sign up on line first. Go to Practiscore.com and look for Littlestown. You'll need a Practiscore account. It's free - just use your email address. We do accept walk-ins.

Short Description : Teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for owning and operating a pistol safely.

More Details: This course is 8-hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot revolvers and semi-automatic pistols. Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; pistol parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest position, and two handed standing positions; cleaning the pistol; and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, take a Basics of Pistol Shooting Student Examination, and course completion certificate.

Short Description :

Teaches the basic knowledge, skills and attitude necessary to carry a concealed pistol for personal defense.

More Details: This course is 8-hours long and includes classroom and range time. Course topics include: Firearm Safety (Mandatory), Pistol Nomenclature and Selecting a Pistol for Self-Defense, Basic Defensive Pistol Skills, Drawing from Concealment, Loading and Stoppage Remediation, Mindset, Carry Modes and Pistol Concealment, Firearm Cleaning, and Sport Shooting and Training Activities. Course length is determined by the Instructor, to meet your State’s requirements for a CCW permit. Additionally, students may complete live fire training and a nationally standardized shooting qualification while on the range with an NRA Certified Instructor. Students will receive reference books, take a NRA CCW Student Examination and receive a course completion certificate bearing the signature of the NRA Secretary and your NRA Certified Instructor.

Ladies Only Pistol Class (10/24/2026)

The pistol instructors at Littlestown Fish and Game will be doing a women’s only pistol class. This class will cover limited basics of pistols/firearms, sight alignment, trigger control, breath control and follow through. We will then transition to a defense shooting curriculum and cover drawing from a holster, defensive shooting, reloading and cover and concealment. There will also be some instruction on weapon retention and shooting from retention.

On the range, instructors will give assistance on proper grip, sight alignment under stress, emergency reloads and malfunction clearance. They will go thru a course of fire designed to test how they shoot.

The goal of the course is to get a woman more comfortable with her firearm and improve her shooting skills. Needed for the class is a holster that can be inside or outside the waist, gun, three magazines and 150 rounds of ammo. No open toed shoes, Dress for the weather. We will end the day with some fun shooting challenges and some awards. Sign up is through pistolshooterclass@gmail.com and cost is $50.00. Class begins at 9:00 a.m. on October 24. This class is available to anyone. You do not need to be a member of the club to enroll in the class.
